Distance Conditioning Begins!

Track conditioning for distance runners begins November 29. Practices will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school until about 4:15 p.m.. Runners will dress in the varsity gymnasium locker rooms, using the entrances in the same hallway as the training room. See Coach Neylon in room C 126 with any questions.

Girls and Boys Enter Post-Season with Impressive Third Place Finishes at Hoosier Crossroads Conference

The boys' and girls' teams turned in record breaking performances this week en route to earning third place finishes at the highly competitive Hoosier Crossroads Conference meets.

The girls' team was led by double winner Maddie Webster who was victorious in the 1600m and 3200m while improving her school record in the 1600m with a time of 5:01.5 and setting a conference record in the closely contested 3200m with a time of 11:13.54.

The girls' 4x800 team of Mary Lewis, Haley Wittig, Sydney Lesko, and Veronica Goduto was also victorious while establishing a new school record time of 9:32.0, the second fastest time in the state this year.

Kirsten Gaerke raced to a win in the 400m with a season best time of 59.46 while also anchoring the winning 4x400 relay team which also included Mary Lewis, Veronica Goduto, and Jenny Gleisner.

At the boys' meet, the team earned the highest finish ever for the boys' track & field program at Brownsburg. The boys were led by victories in the distance and field events.

The opening event of the meet, the 4x800 relay, proved to be one of the most exciting races of the meet with Brownsburg earning second place honors and improving once again the school record time. Daniel Purdy, Zach Cassels, Andrew Maloney, and Scott Hathaway raced to a 8:01.7.

Scott Vicenzi battled Connor Martin from Westfield to earn a victory in the 1600m and finally best the school record with the second fastest time in the state this year, 4:13.15.


Daniel Purdy came into his
own running to his first major victory in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:58.64.


Todd Nibbs earned his second consecutive HCC victory in the high jump clearing 6-6 while Joe Lyons earned a runner-up finish in the disk with a throw of 145-02.

Girls and Boys Sweep Plainfield and Mooresville to Move to 9-1 on the Season


Brownsburg girls' and boys' track teams improved to 9-1 on the season by surging past Plainfield and Mooresville. Both teams performed exceptionally well with several members turning in personal records and season bests.

Great Weekend of Great Performances!



Brownsburg Girls' and Boys' Track Teams excelled over the weekend with the girls' team repeating for the fourth consecutive time as winners of the Decatur Central Twilight Invitational and the boys' team repeating as runners-up despite the absence of several members of the team.

Winners at the Twilight Invitational included the boys' and girls' 4x800 relay teams, boys' 4x200 relay, girls' 4x400 relay, Todd Nibbs in the high jump, Sara Tate in the 100m hurdles, Alan Paddock in the 400m dash, Sydney Lesko in the 3200m run, and Daniel Purdy in the 800m run.

While the teams competed at the Twilight Invitational, Maddie Webster and Scott Vicenzi were among the state's top distance runners invited to compete at the Franklin Central Miracle Mile.

Maddie Webster ran to a personal and school record time of 5:07 earning a fourth place spot on the podium along side the state's best.

Scott Vicenzi raced to a personal record of 4:17.1 against a star studded field to earn a ninth place finish.

The boys' team went on to compete at the Midwest Prep Invite on Saturday turning in several top performances. The boys' 4x800 team of Scott Vicenzi, Scott Hathaway, Zach Cassels, and Daniel Purdy raced to a new school record time of 8:10 finishing second to the team from Lawrence North. Todd Nibbs earned fourth place honors in the high jump while Wyatt Rondot raced to a tenth place finish in the 3200m dropping sixteen seconds to establish a new personal record of 10:08.

2010 Track Information

Conditioning: It Has Already Begun. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 3:10 to 4:30. Meet outside the weight room.

First Practice: Tuesday, February 16 from 3:10 to 5:00
(Make sure to have a physical on file). Meet in the small field house by the football field.

There will be a parent meeting/get-together in the cafeteria on Tuesday, February 23 at 6:30 p.m.
