Girls and Boys Enter Post-Season with Impressive Third Place Finishes at Hoosier Crossroads Conference

The boys' and girls' teams turned in record breaking performances this week en route to earning third place finishes at the highly competitive Hoosier Crossroads Conference meets.

The girls' team was led by double winner Maddie Webster who was victorious in the 1600m and 3200m while improving her school record in the 1600m with a time of 5:01.5 and setting a conference record in the closely contested 3200m with a time of 11:13.54.

The girls' 4x800 team of Mary Lewis, Haley Wittig, Sydney Lesko, and Veronica Goduto was also victorious while establishing a new school record time of 9:32.0, the second fastest time in the state this year.

Kirsten Gaerke raced to a win in the 400m with a season best time of 59.46 while also anchoring the winning 4x400 relay team which also included Mary Lewis, Veronica Goduto, and Jenny Gleisner.

At the boys' meet, the team earned the highest finish ever for the boys' track & field program at Brownsburg. The boys were led by victories in the distance and field events.

The opening event of the meet, the 4x800 relay, proved to be one of the most exciting races of the meet with Brownsburg earning second place honors and improving once again the school record time. Daniel Purdy, Zach Cassels, Andrew Maloney, and Scott Hathaway raced to a 8:01.7.

Scott Vicenzi battled Connor Martin from Westfield to earn a victory in the 1600m and finally best the school record with the second fastest time in the state this year, 4:13.15.


Daniel Purdy came into his
own running to his first major victory in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:58.64.


Todd Nibbs earned his second consecutive HCC victory in the high jump clearing 6-6 while Joe Lyons earned a runner-up finish in the disk with a throw of 145-02.
